Not sure if it means anything, but we never really walk in or walk out at the same time, but for some reason I notice that she always parks her car next to mine, almost every day. She does this even though there are like 15 other spots free, some of which are closer to the building than mine. We don’t have designated parking lots either. Am I making more out of this or does anyone think she is doing this on purpose? Personally, I think I am making more out of this but honestly, I am hoping she is doing it so she catches me one day at my car so we can chat (it’s happened once or twice in the past). I think she’s nice, cute and a good person.. definitely a girl I would pursue, but I’m not a fan of work relationships.

You’re over-thinking something incredibly miniscule in the grand scheme of things. For all you know she’s OCD and parks by you every morning out of habit.

I used to park in the same spot every day at my old job teaching elementary school kids. It even got to the point where the kids would draw in the next spot "Stupid people parking only!" and draw an arrow to my spot, but I’d still park there.

unless she’s displaying signs that she’s interested in you, asking her out is a sure way to get her to stop parking next to you

To answer some questions:

Yes, I have parked in different spots of the lot and she has parked next to me still.

I don’t talk to her very often. Actually, I think I talked to her maybe once in the past 6 months or so.

Yail, you might be right about that one.. it could be that. After all, her brother is a cop and I am sure he gave her safety tips for parking lots.

Also, it could be that she parks next to me because she feels I take good care of my car and knows I won’t scratch it or open my door into her car when I leave.

I park next to girls’ cars all the time in hopes of starting up a conversation with them.

I used to park near this one girl’s car all the time at my old job, because we used to pretty much come in to work at the same time. It was definitely a good way of striking up a convo. I’ll have to see what becomes of this, as she isn’t easy to catch.
Instead of analyzing the situation on this forum you should take some initiative and find out first hand what shes up to.

LOL, you guys have some funny ideas. Well, not sure how long I have to talk to her at the moment, but I at least have something to make fun of her with. She messed up the front of her car because she hit a deer. I’m going to start calling her "deer slayer" but also strike up a conversation and see where it goes, because I hit a deer a few months ago myself. I’m also going to try the whole park way out there type of deal.. see if she goes out of her way.

She parks her car next to yours for the same reason why students sit in the same places in uni. halls for most of the semester. It’s not usually becuase they have a crush on the person next to them.

Wow, I can’t believe I posted this back in May. Well, since most were wanted to know an update, basically, there is nothing to tell you.

For the past few months I have tried to purposely go out of my way to talk to her. Every time I do, something gets in the way. Here are just some classic examples of inadvertant cock blocking:

-She parks next to me, I’m already 3/4 of the way to our building when I notice her getting out of her car and walking. I get to the elevator with the intention of holding it open so I can get her in there and strike up conversation. Another person rushes in the elevator and closes the elevator door immediately before I could tell the person to hold it for the girl (who is now 3/4 of her way to the elevator). Cock block number 1.

-I figured I would wait until about the time she needs to leave to try and catch her going out. So, I am ready to leave and see her leaving and of course… my co-worker decides to leave with me. Normally this isn’t a problem, except for the fact that my co-worker insists on being out of there as soon as possible and wouldn’t hold the elevator for her either.

-I also tried waiting for her for her break time, trying to figure out when she goes. So I figured it out, went to go leave a few minutes after she did so I could time it right catching her and of course, co-workers come to me with problems as soon as I leave.

-Another time, I go to the bathroom and she is pretty much in the women’s room at the same time. I figured "Perfect, now I can catch her on the way out and chat". Of course, I get an emergency phone all.

Anyway, I’m not worried about it. She hasn’t been parking next me as much and honestly, all of my work relationships failed in the past. With an office of only 80 people or so, everyone knows a lot about what’s going on so I’d like to avoid drama and gossip anyway…

Not only that, but I have two potentials… one with a friend of 4 years, we are getting closer in our relationship with each other (unfortunately not physical yet) and the other is a girl who I am pretty sure likes me and I am taking a vacation with.

Case in point, today. I’m ready to leave work. I lock up all the stuff at our server room and this girl is ready to leave. I’m about to step out, get outside, hold the elevator for her and what happens? 2 minutes to 5, I get a business phone call on my work line…

I end up staying until 5:30pm because an admin on one of our remote sites decided to get into the server and lock himself out… he screwed it up so bad, I ended up having to reboot a server so he could get in. Welcome to my world
