most excruciating pain EVER, I woke up at like 6AM on valentines day with a blinding pain in my lower right abdomen, I was screaming in pain so my cousin called 911. I was I ended up going to the hospital and doped up on morphine the whole day. Ended up getting a CT scan and finding out that I have kidney stones. DO EVERYTHING YOU CAN TO AVOID THIS SHIT. WARNING TO YOU ALL, WORST PAIN EVER!!! I would have blown my brains out if I could comprehend anything. btw morphine is awesome, lol

I’ve had 7. Mine were caused by Prednisone. Key is avoid medications that cause them, drink plenty of water, eat correctly, get an ultrasound of the Kidney to make sure there are no more stones. Get blood testing to make sure you’re not deficient in any particular mineral or unusual blood counts.

It helps, but not always.
Well it took me a while from when the pain started til I actually got a shot of the morphine but I really couldn’t comprehend time so I don’t know how long it took. But I was begging for them to make the pain stop and the guy injected me with morphine and I asked him how long it would take and he said it should go away….about now…and I felt my arms and my face tingling and going numb and the pain decreasing. It eventually completely went away, but once the effects of the morphine started to wear off I could feel it coming back again so they injected me with more.
oh I have pissed the rocks about 10 times, it was caused by mountain dew and like drinks for me. That shit is bad.

I hope you don’t either. The pain was so severe that I would vomit. I had to have one of them removed using Lithotripsy. It’s a sonic pulse machine that breaks the stone using frequency from a machine.

The stone was too big to move down the Ureter and got lodged. It was left there for weeks before the Urologist took care of it.

Not that I know of.

I’d doubt it. Urine is constantly dripping into the bladder, holding it in the bladder won’t really do anything to the flow from the kidneys. If you hold it for a ridiculous amount of time, it might back up into the kidneys and damage the blood vessels, but you’d be in some serious pain by then.

Continuously holding urine for extended periods might stretch the bladder though, making it difficult to contract properly and giving you a different set of problems.

Kidney stones build up from highly concentrated urine – basically if you don’t drink enough water, the calcium can build up in your system.
You should ask your doctor about using Flomax (tamsulosin) when you are having kidney stones. It helps you pass them and really seems to decrease the pain, better than just using narcotics to mask the pain.

Yeah they prescribed me Flomax and Vicodin, I forgot to take my dose last night but I’ll just wait til tonight cause I took one on the day of and I was vomiting the whole day.

Totally. You can get them a few different ways, including stress. Don’t fuck around with kidney stones. You’ll want to die.
I passed a kidney stone once. I have also given birth to three hugh babies naturally (yeah I WAS stupid)…However, the stone was as bad as the labor pains. I’ll tell you one thing, I only wish kidney stones on my worst enemies. Once you pass one, you will NEVER forget that agonizing pain EVER!!!

Oxalate combined with calcium usually cause kidney stones…Oxalate is found in all your berries (strawberries, blueberries, ect.), coffee, tea, dark soda’s, and chocolate…too much oxalate and not enough water was my problem. Now, I have not given up my coffee,tea, or chocolate but I drink LOTS of water to ensure I never have to deal with that crap again!

My doctor told me a cup of water every hour should help.

Exactly!!! Not WORSE than but pretty equal to labor pains.

i feel your pain. i went through it a few years back. i thought i was having a stroke. it was too big to pass, they had to break it up with a lazer. they rotorootered it. makes me cringe thinking about it. my kidney failed, worst pain ive ever been through. its been almost 5 years and im still paying for it. i remember one day i went to the grocery store and it started hurting so bad i had to pull my car over and lay on the ground and roll around im sure it looked weird. drink lots of water or beer
I swear that since I started reading this thread, I’ve been getting those kidney stone side cramps again- probably all in my head, but I’m bumping up the water intake just in case
