Would you still be alive today without modern medicine?
Have heard a viewpoint that modern medicine is making the human race weaker because people that would have died of illness in the old days would have less chance of reproducing and replicating their ‘flawed’ DNA.
You won’t find much severely handicapped creatures in nature that are still alive or will live for a long time, and from our viewpoint its ‘cruel’ how they get killed and eaten. We with our ‘humanity’ think we are doing a good thing by keeping our handicapped and elderly people alive for as long as possible.
However (and this is not my invention) there is a ‘energy balance’ in our existence.
Leeches like handicapped people who only suck resources from the system without having any hope of recovery burden the system. You have to work for someone who will NEVER be able to do anything in their lives. Now if it were only 1, one might be able to carry that burden, however if for every 10 people that work in our system, 300 elderly people are dependent on, the system will collapse. If those 300 people DIE (regardless whether its ethically correct or not) those 10 working people will be freed from their burden. The death of one, means freedom for another. Literary one’s death is another persons bread.
So energy system whise , the system is better off without leeches that degrade the system. So energy wise its better if these people die.
Modern medicine is making the human race weaker but not so much of the reason you stated, afteral the higher the variety in DNA, the bigger the chance of survival is for humanity as a whole. The higher variation makes it able to be more adept to disease. The real worry comes from mutating bacteria, that as a result of constant anti-biotics over usage are getting stronger and stronger. Because they mutate to become resistant against our medicines, then IF the human race gets attacked, there will be little medicine against these bacteria that will work efficiently. So THAT indeed is a great problem. Also medicine usage makes the immune system weak. So these things should only be used as a final method.
me? nope. Born 3 months premature, had 2 soft spots that closed early.

Some really sick stuff here.
We exist as individuals, not as a race. Each individual is an end in himself, and medicine exists to give each of us the best possible chance of survival. Welfare schemes, not modern medicine, are making people weak and consuming resources to keep the unfit alive. There is nothing wrong with sick and disabled people receiving medical care as long as the government doesn’t confiscate private property to pay for it.
Weaker because we live longer.
Yes, that makes sense.

Yes, obviously we would have been better off without people like Stephen Hawking
The stupid dying is one thing, but how does dying of smallpox, whooping cough, etc… have anything to do with "flawed" genetics ?
Me? No chance. Was born all fucked up and sick and I’ve had some serious illnesses and injuries. Kind of really love modern medicine actually
DE, leeches? Seriously?
Pray to God that you never get old or suffer a serious injury and soomeone deems you a "leech"

I can almost guarantee that DE will somehow be the exception to the "old and disabled people are leeches to society" rule.
I don’t know. I had vaccines at a very early age, so there’s no definite way of knowing if I would’ve contracted those diseases. But I haven’t had any serious illnesses during my life (I think the flu once), so I could only assume I’d still be alive. Although, there are certain instances where things that have happened would’ve left me in less comfort than I am in now…one of which is a broken foot/toe in which a portion of the bone had to be removed. Without it being removed, playing sports, walking, running, etc. would be difficult to do without a good deal of pain.
I was bitten by a small woodland creature when I was in third grade and had to have rabies shots.
I have recently started taking Chinese herbal pills to help with insomnia because my other alternative is sleeping pills and I really want to get off of them.
